Ivanna Van Holst, MSW, RSW

Ivanna is a Registered Social Worker with a Bachelor of Social Work and Master of Social Work degree from Wilfrid Laurier University. Ivanna is interested in supporting adults, teenagers and children through various life challenges As part of her Master’s degree, Ivanna completed her practicum at Calming Tree from September 2020 to February 2021. During that time she was able to support a caseload of individual clients from diverse backgrounds. This placement allowed her an opportunity to gain experience in the field of mental health counselling and further equip her with the skills to support future clients.

When working with clients, Ivanna is committed to establishing and maintaining a welcoming and non-judgmental environment. In creating such an environment, Ivanna strives to promote growth in her clients through a collaborative relationship that will further support them throughout their journey. With the value of self-determination in mind, Ivanna uses an eclectic approach that draws from cognitive behavioural therapy, narrative therapy, and person-centered therapy.

Ivanna has previous experience supporting young women and teenagers that are managing various life challenges including pregnancy, anxiety, depression, and difficult life transitions. While placing a high priority on empathy and trust within the therapeutic relationship, Ivanna is able to identify strengths in each of her clients and facilitate the development of resiliency. Ivanna is interested in supporting teenagers and young adults through various life challenges.
