Tara Harvie, MSW, RSW
Tara is a Registered Social Worker with a Master of Social Work from Wilfrid Laurier University and is in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW) and the Ontario Association of Social Workers (OASW). Tara has worked with adults of all ages, families and couples in a variety of roles within community and hospital settings. Tara is passionate about walking alongside those she works with and is honoured to support their mental health, relationships and quality of life.
Tara’s focus in her practice is to ensure clients feel safe, heard and accepted. Her compassionate, approachable and empathetic nature has helped support clients experiencing a wide range of life challenges such as anxiety, depression, grief, family/relationship conflict, trauma, self-esteem, and substance misuse. Tara is a proud ally of the 2SLGBTQ+ community.
In her work, Tara draws from a diverse range of therapeutic approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Solution Focused Therapy (SFT), from a strengths-based, person-centered, trauma-informed perspective. Her primary goal is to build a meaningful and trusting therapeutic relationship while supporting clients to process their thoughts, feelings and behaviours to foster positive change in their lives.
Tara's availability for appointments is Tuesday and Thursday evenings.
