Erik Bodendorfer MSW, RSW
Erik Bodendorfer is a counsellor and registered social worker who is passionate about helping others improve their lives through the counselling relationship. He believes in assisting his clients to set meaningful, realistic goals and to establish strategies in navigating lifes barriers and obstacles. Erik approaches the therapeutic relationship from a place of mutual discovery, creating an environment of curiosity to explore reactions, emotions and behaviours and arriving with the client at agreeable solutions to challenges.
Erik has experience working with individuals experiencing trauma, substance use, severe and persistent mental illness, depression and anxiety. He has supported clients as they navigate grief and loss, whether it is due to a death or life transitions such as job loss, divorce or separation, finishing school. Erik uses a clent-centred, trauma-informed approach to counselling. He has an integrative approach, tailoring counselling to the needs of his clients with foundations in cognitive behavioural therapy, strength-based modalities and narrative therapy.
Erik is in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW). In addition to have a Master of Social Work degree from Wilfrid Laurier University, Erik received his Bacholor of Arts with a double major in sociology and criminology at the University of Western Ontario. Erik is a lifelong learner and continues to sharpen his skills through ongoing training and education.
